Site Analysis – Why it’s Important to Your Home-Based Business

By Holly Reisem Hanna

Site Analysis, what is it and why you should be concerned about it? Website traffic analysis tells you where exactly your web traffic is coming from. It also shows you how many pages views your site receives, how many visitors visit your site on a daily basis, and what pages are the most popular.

Okay…but why is this important, you ask? Site analysis is especially important for your home-based businesses because it lets you know where your marketing efforts are paying off, and it can save you a lot of time and money!

First, if you are advertising your home-based business via a pay per click (PPC) campaign or monthly advertising fees you will want to know how many visitors each campaign is bringing in. After all you don’t want to be paying for advertising that is only bringing in a few visitors a month. By checking your website’s analysis you can determine where your money is best spent and where you should cut costs. (more…)

Work at Home Woman – Elizabeth Grace Saunders of Real Life E

elizabethDo you work from home?

Yes! I’ve happily worked at home for over three and a half years.

How many hours do you work a week?

When I started out as an entrepreneur, I didn’t understand how to make a schedule for myself and keep my business and my life distinct from one another. I would get up pretty early and work for a while. Then I would maybe take a shower around noon, do some errands, and work some more. This schedule kind of worked for me, but I found that I felt guilty whenever I was home and not working. This meant I’d come home from events and feel like I had to answer my business e-mail at 10 p.m. at night. I didn’t feel free to rest and didn’t know how to determine when I had done “enough.” This meant I worked many nights and weekends and put in around 50-60 hours a week.

Now that I have a much more effective schedule, I work about 40-45 hours a week. There are occasional weeks when I work more, like when I have multiple speaking engagements in one week. But I now keep careful track of how many hours I work each day and make it a goal to wrap up on Friday with as close to 40 hours as possible. Then I focus on my personal life over the weekend-guilt free! (more…)

Extra Exposure for Your Business: Media Queries

What: I’m working on a piece that quotes some mothers in business who started out small when children were young (and possibly started the company because they had young children) but whose business grew larger as children got older. I just need a few quotes; maybe some stats on the companies; and a Web address for the company, if applicable. I’m a freelancer.
