Interview With Work at Home Expert – Kelly McCausey

Work at Home MomHow long have you worked at home?

I started my home business part time in 2002.  I worked evenings and weekends while holding down my full time job as office manager at my church.  I was fortunate to have flexible hours when I needed them, that helped me to get things done.

In 2006 I was making more at home than I brought home in a paycheck.  I gave notice and worked at home full time, something I never would have even thought possible a few years before. (more…)

Interview With The Mogul Mom – Heather Allard

The Mogul MomDo you work from home? Yes, I work from home and have since my first daughter was born in 2000. I’m fortunate to be able to work from home and take care of my three children-but, I have started several businesses to supplement our family income. I have three children, Hope, Grace and Brendan and it’s darn expensive having a family of five! :-)

How many hours do you work a week? 240. Ha! No, really I work about 2-3 hours per day and it’s very piecemeal-I have to sneak in some work while the kids are busy or wait until they’ve gone to bed at night. Each weekend, I try to schedule the next week’s blog posts so I’m not freaking out every night, especially if the kids get sick or we want to do something spontaneous. ;) (more…)

The Freelance Mom

The Freelance MomWhen most people hear the word freelance, they either think of a writer or graphic designer; however the word freelance encompasses so much more. In fact the popular online freelance network Guru.com lists more than 160 different freelance categories, from Search Engine Optimizers, Marketing Coordinators to Virtual Assistants and Copywriters.

As some of you may know, besides running The Work at Home Woman, I also work part-time as a Social Network Liaison. I started this home-based freelance career shortly after my daughter was born. I had worked in various nursing roles from a Surveillance Utilization Review Nurse to a Clinical Research Coordinator, so I knew that I had some solid marketable skills to offer. (more…)
