Interview with Work at Home Woman – Tracey Fuller of Triple Threat Social Media

Tracey FDo you work at home?

Yes!

How many hours do you work a week?

60 hours.

Tell us a little bit about Triple Threat Social Media and how you got started.

I was working at a real estate office as an assistant and saw how motivated the realtors were in my office to make a living for themselves, rather than at a normal 9-5 job. Being that I just moved to the Houston-area from Chicago over a year ago, I didn’t have the contacts a lot of realtors have down here in order to have a thriving real estate business. As I started to write and promote my travel blog, I learned how important social media sites were to promote business. Before I knew it, realtors who became fans of my blog started to ask me questions about how they could use social media to their advantage, and I thought, “wouldn’t this be a great business!” Having my degree in journalism and the know-how of making social media sites work to promote business, I can assist the self-employed and entrepreneurs with their social media needs. I call it Triple Threat Social Media because I believe that utilizing Twitter, Facebook and Linked In as the key ingredients to having a successful social media plan.

How do you manage all of your personal and business activities?

That’s tricky, because I find that working hard always pays off, but in order to keep your sanity, you must reserve some time for social outings. I make it a point to not work on the weekends. I don’t even want to look at the computer on Saturdays! I do check my email on my phone, and my facebook, but the last thing I want to do is sit in front of the computer screen on the weekends!

What has been your biggest business struggle?

So far, managing how to promote my business while helping my clients promote their business has been a struggle. Also, the whole social media revolution is still so new to so many people, and having to convince them they need a Twitter page or they need a blog in order to stay relevant on the web is difficult.  A lot of people think by just having a website that it’s enough for their web presence, when actually, having their business spread among different social media sites is crucial in maintaining their business appears on the first page of a Google search as opposed to the fifth page.

What are your 3 favorite websites or blogs?

Ms. Career Girl

Travel Writers Exchange

What advice would you give to a new entrepreneur?

Don’t give up!! Also, treat everyone the same way you would like to be treated, because you never know who you may meet that could inspire or help to make your big break. Even if it’s a stranger you meet while waiting in line at the grocery store! They may be or know someone who is looking for the services you provide. I’m a big believer in staying positive, even when life get’s you down, as being essential in keeping your business afloat. Always remember that life is full of surprises!

Social media is the new trend in businesses. I don’t think I have visited a website without a “follow me” button or a “become a fan” button!
