7 Must Have Accessories for the Work at Home Woman

By Holly Reisem Hanna

For the past 3 ½ years I’ve enjoyed being a work at home woman.  One of the great things about being a work at home woman, is that I’ve been able retire my heels and button down shirts in exchange for more relaxed attire, environment and lifestyle.

I work when and where I want to. Of course you can do this too, but you will need to play around with different techniques and products to determine what’s right for you.

Here are just a few of the accessories that I use that make my life a little easier and they reflect my personality – which overall makes my work environment so much more pleasant.

7 must have accessories for the work at home woman:

The Penelope & Parker Leather Laptop Bag – Your computer is the heart of your business, why not protect and carry it around in style? This Penelope and Parker Laptop bag is the perfect combination of luxury and functionality – and let me tell you it is even more stunning in person! Charcoal gray padding on the inside, complements the bold, plum colored leather on the outside. This bag even has enough room for all of your goodies.  Oh, and did I mention… we’re giving one away,  you can enter here!

Jonathan Adler Love Dove Fuchsia Lap Desk – As a work at home woman, you’re not confined to a cubicle. Work where you want to work with this adorable Jonathan Adler Lap Desk. Padded on the one side with foam beads, it will keep you comfortable while keeping your computer cool and thus running smoothly. This light weight lap desk also works great for road trips.

Kindle – To be honest with you, I wasn’t sure about the Kindle – I really enjoyed my books in paper format. But as I started reading more and more business books, my book shelves started to over flow and storage became a problem. So I broke down and purchased one, and I’m telling you I can’t believe I didn’t get one sooner. Lightweight, long battery life and so easy to use – my Kindle will hold up to 3,500 books, which saves space in my house and it’s great for travel!

Kate Spade New York Patent Leather Kindle Cover – Protect your Kindle with this stylish Kindle cover from Kate Spade.  With slots for credit cards, business cards and your ID, it’s like a wallet and book shelf all built into one.

Crane & Company Lapis Thank You Notes & Business Stationery – Crane and Company has some of the classiest and stylish stationery that I’ve seen on the market. Perfect for hand written thank you notes and correspondence. I always make sure that I have plenty on hand – because you never know when you’ll need it.

Busy Body Book Organizer – I’ve experimented with a lot of different organizers and online systems, and so far the Busy Body Book Organizer is the best that I’ve found. It has allowed me to combine my large and bulky day planner and my daily notebook into one simple system.  Containing both a month at a glance and a weekly calendar there is space for me to organize my entire life – plus there is extra space for jotting down notes, addresses and important dates. Best of all it contains 2 inside pockets to store those loose papers and its compact size makes it easy to tote around.

Computer Cleansing Wipes – Here I go again with my Type A personality… but working at home means that you’ll be eating, drinking and entertaining kids around your computer. Keep it clean with these handy computer cleaning wipes from Belkin.

What work at home accessories can you not live without?

Holly from See Jane Work was kind enough to give the Penelope and Parker Laptop Bag for review. Joan from Busy Body Book kindly gave me the Busy Body Book Organizer for review. I can’t live without my Kindle, a comfortable chair and table outside (when the weather cooperates!), and a neverending pot of coffee!

Speaking of the kindle, I do not have plans of getting one. My reasons are highlighted here: http://blog.slimybookworm.com/2011/05/before-you-buy-a-kindle-read-this/

Thanks for stopping by. I read your post and that’s a great point. Because of it’s price point and super long battery life, I’m not sure it will fade away so quickly. Of course technology is always changing, so if they can get a tablet with an extra long battery life, and at a price point that appeals to the masses the Kindle may fade away, but I hope not =)

As a work at home mom I find this to be a great article! I am always looking for organizing time & life tips. I also enjoy cozi! Helps get the family on the same page!!

        • Hi Crystal,

I’m glad you enjoyed the post. I haven’t used Cozi, but I’ve heard great things about it. Another online organization tool I’ve been hearing a lot about is Evernote, haven’t checked it out yet.
