The Importance of Blogging for SEO

The Importance of Blogging for SEOBy Abbas Hussain

There are thousands of people who decide that they are going to start making money by launching a blog, only to find that it is not as easy as they think. The blog is up and you have started to put your content up. The articles are of a high standard, but after a couple of months you are still only getting a couple of visitors every month. What happened to those people who are making thousands of dollars every month? Why are you not getting more traffic? So in the end you give up after 6 months of getting nowhere.

This happens to so many people. People think that they are going to make money overnight and when it doesn’t happen they think they are doing something wrong. Very few people make money overnight, but they do make money eventually if they go about it in the right way. Many people rush into this venture without knowing the basics. If you are going to just write articles without promoting your blog you are definitely not going to get anywhere.

Blogging for SEO – 5 Tips

You will find thousands of SEO blogs and sites which will be telling you different things, but a lot of the time reading too much and not experimenting for yourself is the first mistake.

Here are the basics:

Start with Keyword Research

You have to know what is worth writing about and finding the right keywords is the best place to start. The best tool to start off with is Google AdWords, but don’t pay for any tools when you first start off.

Writing Your Content

Once you have your keywords, you can start writing your content. You should preferably write at least 500 words, but less than 2,000 words. You should include a mix of keywords in your posts. Don’t repeat the same keywords, such as “espresso machine”. Include long tail keywords, such as “where to buy an espresso machine”.

Without links, people don’t know who you are and what your business is about. You can get these links from a number of different places. You can do guest posts. You can leave links on forums. You can post on web 2.0 sites. You can post on social sites.

Don’t Take Short-Cuts

If you want an authority site then using black hat techniques to promote your site is not the right way to go. Use techniques that Google would approve of.

The best internet marketers have learned to have patience. When the going gets tough and they have lost rankings they will simply use a backup blog. Persevere and don’t give up.

The importance of web design. This is something that a lot of internet marketers forget about because it is so easy just to stick with the default WordPress design, but for ecommerce web design, for example you have to put some effort into your site. You have to make your site clean and easy to get around. It shouldn’t be busy with adverts flashing about. Google is probably going to punish you for this. Think about if you were to land on one of your pages and how long you would stay there for.

Great advice. Getting your hands dirty is the first step. The second step is not giving up! I remember years ago I thought I could put up a website and just start making tons of money. Here I am years later and I help many websites make money but it took time and it took patience.
