Anyone who is an online writer always wonders in the back of their mind how they can obtain higher paying clients. We all hear of people making $100 and more for simple blog posts, yet it can seem almost impossible to achieve these rates if you are not going about things the right way.
Many times freelance writers become discouraged and want to give up their writing careers because they are working more hours than they would in the typical nine to five gig just to make ends meet. Obviously, it is more convenient to work-from-home, but barely making ends meet is no easy way to live.
So, how can you go about obtaining those high paying jobs that you dream about?
1. Build up your confidence.
What many freelance writers do not realize, is they have the opportunity to tell clients what their rates are, however, the problem lies in valuing your worth and work. So, the next time a client contacts you and asks you what your rates are, raise your rates up a notch, and you will be surprised at the number of customers who will gladly pay the prices that you thought would be turned down.
2. Apply for those jobs that seem out of reach.
We all see those jobs that are paying our dream amounts of money, yet many times we shy away from them due to fear of being rejected. Again, the worst thing that can happen is that you don’t get the job. But, in this line of work you are going to be rejected, while other times you will be accepted. When you are rejected, do not take it personally, just move on to the next thing.
3. Do not let clients down talk your prices.
Some clients will be willing to pay the asking rate, yet they will test you, try to negotiate a lower price to see how strong you are. If you are firm on your rates and tell them going lower is not an option you will be surprised at how many clients hire you. However, do not be surprised if they do not respond right away. You can trust they will contact you back when you least expect it.

4. Stop looking for work on content mills, freelance bidding sites, and forums.
Sometimes you can find good gigs here, but the majority of the time you will not. This is because these places are filled with writers who will write for pennies. If you want to get the higher paying jobs, you will have to go to the places where hardly anyone knows about. Not to mention the fact that you will have to do some research and contact businesses on your own.

Conclusion.
Overall, anyone can land higher paying writing gigs. It is all up to you whether or not you choose to do so. Just keep in mind that the worst thing that can happen is you get turned down. This is not the end of the world. Just hang in there and keep forging ahead and a higher paying gig will come your way.
