A personal concierge is detail oriented, home-based professional that offers corporate and/or individual assistance by completing such tasks such as arranging meetings, planning corporate events, purchasing gifts or tickets, making reservations and paying bills. The services that you can provide are endless and all depend on your specific niche and experience.
Setting up a home-based personal concierge business is easy and has a relatively low start-up cost. Some items that you will need to get started are a computer, phone-line, fax-line, internet access, printer, business cards and a website to showcase your business. You will want to create a website that highlights your experience and testimonials from clients, along with a list of all the services you are able to provide.
Depending on what services you offer, how long you’ve been business, and your past experience, a personal concierge can anywhere from $20.00 – $40.00 an hour. There are a few different ways that you can charge for your services: by the hour, number of tasks, project or package – explore what option works best for you and your client.
To market your new business you will want to inform family and friends and ask them to spread the word around. Get permission from local schools, churches and stores to place flyers on bulletin boards. If you have a larger advertising budget you may want to advertise on the internet with a pay per click (PPC) campaign or in your local yellow pages. If you plan on offering corporate concierge services you may want to contact targeted companies about your services. Don’t forget to include networking into your marketing strategy.
