How To Increase Your Facebook Likes… Without Annoying Your Fans

Increase Your Facebook Likes and EngagementBy Holly Resiem Hanna

A few months ago, I started creating text only updates on my Facebook Fan Page. Meaning that I would add the text for my update in the status box, and then I’d put the link to the article within the first comment. The reason I did this was because Edgerank, had drastically decreased the number of individuals that were seeing and interacting on my Facebook posts.

If you’re not familiar with Edgerank, it’s Facebook’s new algorithm which automatically determines which posts you see, and which ones you don’t. According to Brian Solis, Facebook is trying to help ensure that you see the “best content” and that the spammy content is filtered down.

However, the caveat to this is that anyone can PAY to have their updates and posts ranked higher, thus being seen by more people. (more…)

The Fourth Annual, 50 Best Blogs by Women – 2012

Best Blogs by WomenBy Holly Reisem Hanna

It’s that time of year again!

For the past four years, I’ve compiled a list of what I think are the 50 Best Blogs by Women. If you can believe this, it actually takes me a full year to put this list together. Each and every day I’m on the lookout for great new resources and fresh new voices. Some of these women I’ve had the pleasure of working with, some I’ve found from comments left on last year’s best-of-post, a couple were featured on the news – but this year, I found the majority of these blogs on Pinterest!

What I find so amazing about blogging, is that there are so many fabulous women, in a ton of different niches, that are creating their own destinies and business opportunities – and that is powerful stuff! (more…)

The Blogging Debate – Moms Against Moms

Blogging MomsBy Holly Reisem Hanna

Women as a whole are very passionate people, and when we feel strongly about an issue, WATCH OUT, because we will fight tooth and nail for what we believe in. You can see this passion in such debates as Pro-Life and Pro-Choice campaigns, the Ferber sleep method versus co-sleeping, and even in light hearted debates, like Team Aniston versus Team Jolie.

Women are once again taking sides, but this time it’s in the blogging arena. As businesses and corporations are seeing the huge marketing power that Mommy Blogs possess they are providing bloggers with freebies, trips and incentives in hopes of getting positive reviews about their products and services.

The argument is that with all these freebies floating around, that the lines between companies and mom bloggers have become blurred, and that the authenticity and integrity that was once there is now gone. Mindy Roberts from The Mommy Blog says, “Too many people are getting into blogging as if it were some sort of Amway. It’s not something to jump into while it’s hot so you can collect freebies and get paid to parrot. Blogging is something else entirely… The source becomes distrusted, worthless. And the rest of us are dragged down by association”. (more…)
