It’s June. Where do you stand with your business goals for the year?

Where you fall on this spectrum often reflects how you live your life and how successful your business is. You are either in control of where you are headed and steering your path or you are floating through life, letting circumstances and obstacles determine your outcomes each day and ultimately the results you achieve.

The “floating and steering” analogy may be hard to detect in ourselves, but can be easily seen by a trained outsider.

For example, this past week I interviewed with two people for my coaching programs. Both of them have financial goals they set at the first of the year, yet both are on unquestionably different tracks to achieving them. (more…)

Don’t focus on your mistakes, focus on the lessons learned.

A profitable business is rarely a straight road with a clearly marked path. In fact, most women entrepreneurs find they take several detours and have more mistakes than successes along the way to work-from-home success.

Over time it’s easy to become discouraged and begin to doubt ourselves, our ideas and our vision. We focus on what’s not working rather than what is and without warning our thoughts are overcome with failure and self-doubt.

Wallowing in our failures, we slowly begin to see little opportunity to make money and thoughts of dread and even panic overtake our thoughts, leaving no space for opportunity to sneak in. (more…)

Three Mandatory Steps to Take Before You Start A Home-Based Business.

So you want to make money working from home…

The first step is to decide what to do and how to start. What most women do is talk to their friends about making money from home – they may bounce ideas off each other, research work at home opportunities online, ask their employer for an alternative work schedule. Women also tend to look for opportunities in the environment they know – such as running an in-home day care or becoming a beauty consultant or doing home party sales.  They do this because this is what they know to do. Women know these methods have worked for others and assume it can also work for them too. (more…)

We make decisions every day. We decide what to wear, what to eat, which way to drive to work, and what shows to watch. Some decisions are bigger than others and granted, some decisions mean more than others. Some decisions will have an impact on the next 60 seconds of our life and some have a strong impact on the rest of our lives.

Sometimes we make a decision, say to mow the lawn today, and we make it without thinking much of it. The thought of NOT mowing the lawn doesn’t even enter our mind because we made the decision to mow it every week. If we know it might rain in the afternoon we may make an adjustment to our schedule and mow in the morning. Regardless, the mowing gets done and we don’t put much energy into either the effort of mowing or the consequences of it not getting done. (more…)
