Successful Life & Time Management for Work at Home Mompreneurs

By Golda Smith

Being a work at home mom is amazing. Let’s face it; you have the best of both worlds… a 30 second commute to your office and the pleasure of spending as much time with your children as you want. Sadly, the biggest mistake that many mompreneur’s make is that they try to take their life and fit it into someone else calendar.

We’ve read and even heard many successful business owners talk about the importance of having a calendar and making a list and while those things are important many are still struggling. What makes perfect sense and works effortlessly for me and my kids, would be a complete nightmare for another family. (more…)

Eliminate This One Factor from Your Day and Watch Your Business and Family Time Grow

By Holly Reisem Hanna

I remember when I was pregnant with my daughter; I was at a Chinese restaurant waiting for my take-out, when I observed this woman furiously texting away while her young son tugged on her sleeve trying to get her attention. Over and over again he tugged and asked her to look at something, but all she said was “in a minute”. I remember thinking to myself, “I’m never going to be that mom who is totally consumed by her smart-phone that she’s too busy to pay attention to her child”.

Fast forward 6 years…

Just the other day I was taking a nature walk with my daughter and for safety purposes I always bring my cell phone with me. What is Balance, Really?

By Milissa Harding

When you think of “balance”, what generally comes to mind? If you’re like most people, balance conjures thoughts of giving equal attention to every aspect of your life, like the pieces of a pie. This way of thinking leads people (especially busy work at home moms!) to feel quite pressured, as they struggle to give everything a “little bit” of their time. It can be difficult to feel successful when we’re being pulled in so many different directions at once.

As a Health Coach, I teach my clients to view the concept of balance differently. I ask my clients to think about their level of satisfaction in various areas of their lives. When they think about this, they quickly realize that their idea of balance is different than another person’s, and that this is completely okay. (more…)

How to Avoid Burnout in Your Home Based Business

All Work and No Play: Finding Balance in your Business Endeavors

It seems to be human nature to do things in the extreme. I’ve got several friends, who like me, are the owners of home-based businesses. When we compare notes on our work styles, I’ve noticed that people are most often either workaholics or they have trouble staying focused.

Both are common pitfalls for home business owners.

On the one hand, it’s easy to get caught up in work when you have a home-based business. The office is right there, allowing you to work at all hours of the day and night. A quick phone call can easily turn into an hour long conference call. And if you’re lucky enough to really love your work, you may actually prefer working to many other activities. (more…)
