Work at Home Mom – Angie Shafranek of Tiny Tots with Style
Before the birth of my son I always thought I wanted to be the woman that had the awesome job as a CEO of some large company and become a very successful career woman. I was determined to let nothing stand in my way. The day my son was born I looked at my husband in the hospital and said, “I never want to go back to work”. At that moment I think my husband was very worried, a little bit scared, we had always been a dual income household and now we had a baby to take care of.
Once I got home from the hospital and things started settling in I knew I had to do something to make money and stay at home with my son. I started thinking about things I could invent and how I was going to accomplish that, to looking at buying a business that already existed and how we were going to afford that. I found an online company which appealed to me very much, but things did not pan out and it was not a good match for me at the time.
My maternity leave was up and I had to return back to work. It broke my heart to have to put my son in daycare. Once I got back to work it was not the same. I did not have the drive I once had. I was board, unmotivated, and I wanted something more, but not in what I was currently doing. I wanted something that was for me, my son, and my family. For a little bit after I got back to work I keep pursuing and looking at different business options, but nothing ever came about and there for a while I dropped the whole idea of owning my own business and working at home.
One night my husband came home and started talking about a local business that he heard was for sale, and that is all it took I got the entrepreneur itch back. From that moment on I never looked back and did everything in my power to become a work at home mom and entrepreneur. I knew I wanted to own an online business and with having a small child I knew I wanted it to be something involving kids. Six months later and a lot persistence, hard work, and going to bed really late, Tiny Tots with Style was launched. Now I am the proud owner to Tiny Tots with Style, a mom to a wonderful son who I just can’t get enough of and married to a wonderful man and father for the last 5 years. With all of this I stay very busy, but it is well worth it.
It has been the best decision I have ever made and even when I am frustrated with it I still don’t regret taking that leap. It was and at times still is a very scary step I took, but if I had to do it all over again I would still make the same decision.
