I met Addi online back in 2014, as we were both enrolled in the same blogging course. Since that time, she has grown her Pinterest following to over 276,000+ followers and built a blog that generates six figures!
Read on to see how she built a six-figure blog with the help of Pinterest and affiliate marketing:
Tell us a little bit about yourself and your blogging journey.
I began my first blog, FrugalFanatic.com, in 2011, as a hobby. I was just looking for a place to share how my family and I were saving money, and I thought a blog would be the perfect outlet.
I jumped right into the blogging world without even knowing what I was doing or how to do it.
Two years later, I decided that if I was spending time away from my family, then I wanted it to be worth it. I made a commitment to see what would happen if I dedicated myself to building my blog. I got serious about it and treated my blog like a business.
Within a few months, it started to take off, and I realized how passionate I was about having an online business that I could maintain while still being home with my three boys.
Last year I launched another blog, SimplyBloggingAlong.com, which I recently re-branded as AddiGanley.com so that I could help other people learn how to earn money online.
Give us an example of how you first monetized your blog.
One of the first things I did to monetize my blog was put up ads in my sidebar. I quickly realized that I would not make any kind of real money from my ads and looked for alternative methods to diversify my income.
What was your big turning point?
My big turning point came from Pinterest. Whenever I committed to building my blog, I started using Pinterest. I went from 10,000 monthly page views to more than 100,000 page views in three short months from Pinterest. And since that time, it has grown to seven times the size!
When I learned how to incorporate affiliate marketing into the mix, that’s when I was able to turn my blog from a hobby into a business that now generates a 6-figure income (and growing)! This was a game-changer for my business.
How were you able to build a six-figure blog?
For me, using social media and networking with other bloggers for potential collaborations have been the best strategies.
How did you get involved in teaching people how to monetize their blogs through affiliate marketing?
After owning my first site, Frugal Fanatic, I began to receive a lot of emails from my readers asking how they could do what I did. I started to share my process through email and then realized that the information could help a lot of people. I found out that a large chunk of my readers on that site were bloggers who were looking to earn money from their website, so I started writing about affiliate marketing since it is one of the best ways to generate passive income from a blog.

You have a free 4-day video course on affiliate marketing – what will people learn in this training series?
My free email course, Affiliate Blueprint, will teach you the foundational principles for getting started with affiliate marketing, the rules you need to follow to make money, how you can monetize existing content on your site, how to write high-converting blog posts, and strategies to increase your monthly income.
What are some of the benefits of owning a blogging business?
Some of the major benefits of owning a blogging business include the freedom to work from home on my schedule, the opportunity to be with my children, earning passive income, and the potential to grow my business exponentially.
Do you need to be a good writer to be a blogger?
I don’t think you necessarily need to be the best writer to be a blogger, but you do need to be unique and relevant. The most successful blogs have posts that are valuable to their audience and are relatable. Don’t worry about being a great writer; focus more on helping your audience through your writing.
Thanks, Addi, for sharing your story!
I clicked on your affiliate blueprint course, and it sent me to paypal? If it is free, why do I need to activate my paypal?
Hi Linda, I talked to Addi, and it’s supposed to bypass the payment information since its free. You can use this link to get it. https://addiganley.samcart.com/referral/affiliate-blueprint-free-course/615333

Hey Addi And Hanna,
Social media platforms are the traffic boosters. Though I am not a regular user of Pinterest but still, it’s good to know that people are getting more exposure to their blog.
Building relationships with your readers is the best thing to do. Making human bonds and sharing with each other increases the traffic.
Thanks for sharing with us.
