For the last ten years I’ve been a Virtual Assistant, after spending ten years working as an Office, Administrative and Executive Assistant for various companies and organizations. I work with small business owners who have more work than they can do but nowhere to put an employee along with no equipment, no desire to do more paperwork and a strong desire to work with an experienced assistant.

When I’m not typing away, creating wonderful specimens to aid my clients, answering my phone and keeping my household running smoothly, I’m off helping with my church and managing my own business, Admin Services. Throw in surviving Hurricane Katrina, re-establishing my business and getting a divorce one behind the other and I’m lucky to be somewhat sane. Thank you Jesus for keeping me through it all! Thank God for school so my two teenage daughters (18 & 17) can go somewhere and leave me alone while I work. LOL! Can you tell I really do love my kids? They are truly my beloved ones. (more…)

My name is Angela Tippets and I am an Independent Scentsy Director. My husband’s name is Scott and we have been married for 17 years. We have 3 children who keep us on our toes all of the time. Our family has moved 11 times in 17 years due to my husband’s various jobs in the grocery industry.

I was introduced to Scentsy shortly after our family had a close call with tea light candles.  I was working in a classroom and noticed the teacher had this candle warmer – IT WAS SO COOL!   She explained how it worked, and how safe it was.  This was a “light bulb” moment for me. I went to bed thinking about the Scentsy products and the company, and woke up still thinking about it.  Shortly after I joined Scentsy our family moved to Ohio, where I chose to put Scentsy on the “back burner” to pursue my teaching degree. Allison O’Grady founded Aspiring Couture in April 2009, as a way to encourage other designers to continue to create their dreams. Starting out, her stable datum was to learn from other entrepreneurs and bloggers and to gain knowledge in as many different arenas as she could.

Shortly after she launched the Aspiring Couture Blog, she started to get her feet on the ground and gained some very helpful knowledge from fellow blogs, websites and people. One of these blogs was, The Work at Home Woman which focuses on business advice, tips and techniques that any entrepreneur or blogger needs to know to increase efficiency.

The original idea behind Aspiring Couture was an online and physical boutique featuring works of aspiring designers, including Allison herself. After the blog started gaining readership, she realized there was a real place for her in the blog world, and started pursuing that along with the online boutique. The Aspiring Couture Blog started becoming popular for exposing the world to different aspiring fashion designers, jewelry makers, and accessory artists. (more…)

About 3 1/2 years ago, I started looking for a job.  I was a nurse before I had kids so I was actually looking to go back to nursing.  Because of my husband’s schedule of working full time and farming, the hours didn’t work for our family of four.  That is when I found SimplyFun.

I originally started SimplyFun because it was flexible, and they had some really great games.  The first thing I wanted to buy was a swing set for my kids.  In my first 2 months I earned enough money to get the swing set.  Nine months into my business, my husband and I sat down and started talking about what we wanted to do with our life. Before the birth of my son I always thought I wanted to be the woman that had the awesome job as a CEO of some large company and become a very successful career woman.  I was determined to let nothing stand in my way.  The day my son was born I looked at my husband in the hospital and said, “I never want to go back to work”.  At that moment I think my husband was very worried, a little bit scared, we had always been a dual income household and now we had a baby to take care of.

Once I got home from the hospital and things started settling in I knew I had to do something to make money and stay at home with my son.   I started thinking about things I could invent and how I was going to accomplish that, to looking at buying a business that already existed and how we were going to afford that.  I found an online company which appealed to me very much, but things did not pan out and it was not a good match for me at the time.
