Interview with Time Management Coach – Nancy Lundy

Tell us a little bit about yourself and your entrepreneurial journey.

Before launching my business, I worked as and still do work as an administrative assistant in a local school.  And thank goodness, I do.  About three years I went on retreat with 28 high school girls and it changed my life.  This is where I found the next phase of my life.  Each girl had a story to tell – some more difficult than others.  It was then I realized my own daughter had her story to write, and I had to give her the opportunity to write it.  Another reason it changed my life is because through that program I realize that in this time of my life I wasn’t making choices I was proud of and things needed to change.  So through prayer, meditation and self-kindness, a new Nancy emerged.

I’ve always worked as an administrative assistant and my experience as an AA has been the foundation of my business. Before leaving my corporate career about 10 years ago, I was a corporate event planner and this, too, has given me the skills to work within deadlines, multitask, want and expect the best.  All the skills I’ve learned over the years and my own personality have allowed me to move into this entrepreneurial part of my life smoothly.  After I left the corporate world, I stayed home to raise my two children – my daughter is 20 (away at college) and my son is 15 (sophomore in high school involved in their musical theater program).  Once they were older and money became tight, I started working full-time again.  I love working there and for many reasons – the biggest reason is I work seven minutes from my house, I’m home by 3:45 p.m. each day and this allows me to earn an income while having time each day to work on my coaching business. What did you do before launching your own business?

I have an incredible financial services background. Once I became a Mom, my focus changed and my priorities shifted to wanting to have more financial freedom and ownership of my time. There is no corporate job that will let you do that, so I created my own path and founded My Good Nanny in 2005.

How did you fund your business?

I funded my business through personal savings. I have always been very good with money so I was able to invest and reinvest the profits back into my business and it has been very successful path for me. (more…)

Interview with Tanya Peterson – Founder of Blogelina

Tell us a little bit about yourself and your entrepreneurial journey.

Ever since I stopped working outside the home when my first son was born, I’ve been on the lookout for ways to earn an income from home.  I’ve tried several ideas – my amazing husband has been really gracious to put up with my excitement over so many “best ideas ever”, only to have them flop terribly.  Finally, I started noticing the blogging world and seeing how some bloggers were making a huge income from it.  So, I decided to do a lot of research and set out to start my own blogs.

What did you do before launching your own business?

I did a lot of research and bought several resources from bloggers who had already seen success in earning from their blogs.  I invested in the things that they recommended and then just really started trying to find what my passion was so I could share it through my blogging.

How did you fund your business?

My husband and I had some money in our savings and he allowed me to use it to invest in starting my blogging business. (more…)

Interview with Jill Stover – Direct Sales Consultant for Celadon Road

Tell us a little bit about yourself and your entrepreneurial journey.

I was a stay at home mom. I had ventured into a few home business and direct sales companies that had all been around for many years. I finally found a direct sales business, Celadon Road, that is a ground floor company. I joined just because it was a new company. Now that I have tried the products and have been part of the company for almost a year, I am sold! I love the products, company, and what the company stands for. It is truly my second family.

What did you do before launching your own business?

I provided child care services in my home for almost six years. (more…)

Interview with Michelle Hoffmann – Founder of Junior’s Fresh Food for Your Baby

Tell us a little bit about yourself and your entrepreneurial journey.

My Junior’s Fresh entrepreneurial journey began with a baby – of course! – and the guilt that so often accompanies being a mother.  When it came time to transition my son to baby food, I quickly realized the decision would not be an easy one.

All of the baby foods at the supermarket are processed and most provide little to no nutritional value, but what was most troubling at the time was that when I looked at the expiration dates of the “best” shelf stable options, I was shocked to find that the food was older than my baby.

As a mother working 50+ hours, it was tough to find the time to spend with my new son and make his baby food – but believe me there were lots of late nights steaming and pureeing.  At a certain point something’s got to give. (more…)
