Brooke Papa, 19, attends college at the University of Central Florida, Burnett Honors College. Although she’s busy working on her Mechanical Engineering Degree, Brooke has found a fun and creative way to earn money in between classes.

Tell us how you got involved with Chloe + Isabel.
Ever since I was little, I loved to make jewelry. When I was younger, I would set up a table alongside my mom’s at direct selling jewelry parties, and I would sell my own creations. This turned into a small business in high school, teaching me aspects of a jewelry business beyond the designs, such as sales tax, PayPal, domain names, setting up a website, customer interfaces, and more.
During my senior year of high school, I was scrolling through Pinterest looking for jewelry inspiration and came across pieces from Chloe + Isabel. I loved them! When I clicked on the link, I found information about the company, their mission, and their Merchandiser opportunity. My first semester of college, I decided to give it a shot!
How long have you been with Chloe + Isabel?
I joined Chloe + Isabel in September 2016.
What attracted you to the Chloe + Isabel opportunity?
Initially, the jewelry attracted me to Chloe + Isabel, but what led me to apply to become a Merchandiser was the opportunity to be my own boss, turn a passion into a profitable activity, and grow as an individual. As a college student, it is important for me to have flexible hours. Also, I loved that it is a social job. I have made so many friends by just talking to people about my company and what I do.
How many hours do you work a week on your business?
The number of hours a week I spend working on my business varies week to week. One week could be two or three hours of social media marketing, prospecting for popup hosts, or brainstorming. Other weeks could be more if I have a pop-up or vendor event coming up to plan for and work.
As a college student, how much can you realistically earn with Chloe + Isabel?
I’ve made a little over $3,000 in sales in the short time I’ve been a Merchandiser. Now that I have invested in my company, and have a bit more free time with school, I foresee more success in the months and years to come!
What tips do you have for generating revenue with a social retail opportunity like Chloe + Isabel?
As with anything, you have to like what you are doing to be successful with it. I love the jewelry, the brand, and the relationships I have gained from Chloe + Isabel. This motivates me and gives me the courage to ask outside of my inner circle for sales or hosts for pop-ups.
What are your career plans after graduation?
As a freshman, I am still figuring out what I plan to do upon graduation. Currently, I plan to major in Mechanical Engineering and minor in Mathematics. From this experience with Chloe + Isabel, I will take with me confidence, perseverance, and a great sense of excitement for new challenges, no matter the career path I pave.
